As we worked on our many games (and puzzles) in Level 1, we noticed a recurring need to have “pre-reader prompt cards”. That is, cards with recognizable images and concepts, which don’t require someone to be able to read yet. With every project, we created more and more of them, until we had drawn an image for basically every first word a child might learn!
This bundle collects them all in a way that looks clean, professional, and neatly categorized: animals, nature, food/drink, transportation/locations, anatomy, objects, miscellaneous (e.g. common recognizable jobs).
It’s usually included for free with other products that depend on it, as it felt terrible to ask you to buy a product just to use another product. We provide it as a standalone product too, so you can have the entire set of cards/illustrations and use it however you which.
They can be printed double-sided, but don’t have to be. Cutting them out will take a while, but once done with that, we think you’ll get a lot of mileage out of these pre-reader prompt cards.
Similar bundles can be found already on the internet. We initially wanted to reference them or even buy them for our own use—note that this was way back when we just started this webshop thing—but we found the quality severely lacking. Those bundles usually just slapped together a random set of images from Google, some even showing a watermark or copyright notice, and that was that. We’re fierce proponents of “if you’re going to do it, do it right”.
And so we spent weeks drawing our own illustrations, in our own trademark consistent style, and curating a complete set of proper pre-reader words. Frankly, our disappointment with the existing “pre-reader illustration bundles” was the main drive for completing this mountain of work ;)
