This is the final teaching resource for Language in Level 1. There’s a reason humans evolved to tell and enjoy stories. Putting information and language into a wider, practical context—one that creates mysteries or stirs up emotion—helps learn that information much faster.
Of course, with only a seed of language comprehension present in kids at this age, the stories are incredibly simple. Once they’ve seen a few good fairy tales, however, they’ll be hungry for more. The best you can hope for, after using this resource, is a child who soon devours any books they see!
As the saying goes: “Parents just need to read, read, read until their little ones are ready to read, read, read”
Our curriculum, of course, already involves stories every single step of the way. Almost every resource, about any topic, has a bundle of stories in the Explorers faction. In fact, those were usually the very first products to be made! It all starts there.
Still, we wanted to add a standalone “teaching resource” about stories here that mostly explores story structure and comprehension. Enjoying a good story and actually 100% understanding what happened are different things. This resource is about the second part; try any of our fairy tales for the first part.
