Below are some general notes about teaching this subject as a whole.

Your Apprentices live in this world. They experience the effects of systems every day. They hear about news and big events. They stumble upon parts of the world every day, wondering why things work like that, or what they even are.

As such, most of this subject should be taught in an “opportunistic” way. Ask your students about some news they’ve heard, or what interests them today, then talk about it. Make it about the actual world in the present, and you can link that to more abstract facts or history if you want later.

Not all of it, of course.

Navigating through traffic / using a map is something you do. It’s a skill and thus best learned with a game, puzzle, or other activity.

Understanding money and using it responsibly is something you do. It’s a skill and thus best learned with a game, puzzle, or other activity.

The complexities of historic events or societies are way too difficult (and likely boring) to explain in a dry way or force students to read about. You need a story that packages it in an exciting way. You need a fun quiz to test all the common knowledge that students picked up along the way.

Our resources aim to offer these tools and help you teach about the world in this way.

This subject is about the “external” world. Anything about your inner world, such as personality and social situations, is part of the Social subject.

This subject is also the one without a clear order or plan. It’s the one where the number of things to discuss is near endless. It’s mostly governed by student interest and current events. Over time, we will create more and more resources in a wide variety of topics, and we hope to be able to offer something for everyone.
