Description
Gravestones is a unique escape room for kids and families that’s a perfect activity for Halloween (or the fall holidays).
Players are presented an empty graveyard with 16 spots … and 15 “gravestones” to place. Each gravestone has a simple puzzle that tells you where it should go. They unlock new puzzles as you go, so you’re never overwhelmed and players can “parallel puzzle” instead of all being stuck on the same one.
When all is said and done, only one empty spot should remain: Dracula’s grave!
This means the escape room …
- Requires no preparation. Just cut out the graves and fold them once (so they stand upright), then place the beautiful graveyard map on the table.
- Does not rely on color or extra work. You can print in grayscale if you want. We do our best to minimize paper waste or printing costs. After printing 11 pages, you need nothing else.
- Is very physical. You’re not just staring at papers or riddles. You’re actively placing the tombstones in a 2D space as you fill up the graveyard. It looks nice on the table ;)
- Is suitable for all ages. Each puzzle is extremely small and many of them have no text or numbers at all. Though each player should absolutely have some basic reading and counting ability, which is why we marked it 7+.
- Will lead to many satisfying revelations. We don’t do boring “puzzles” that are really just homework exercises. Each puzzle requires some creative insight, some clever thought, a change in perspective—once you get it, you immediately know where that gravestone goes. Later puzzles rely on earlier ones. The graveyard is used extensively to expand what’s possible.
A perfect educational/classroom activity, or a family activity for Halloween, or maybe a Halloween-themed party. Have fun!
What if I have more than 6 players? Split them into groups. Print the escape room multiple times and let groups race against each other.
Can the person who printed/prepared the escape room play too? Not really, sorry! Simply seeing all the graves and the “victory card” (once you find Dracula’s Grave) probably gives you too many hints. We aim to make a Halloween escape room in the future for adults/older ages that will allow even the person who prepared it to play.
Looking for something that supports more players out of the box and is playable by even younger players? Check out our Trick Or Treat Escape instead. It’s set up in a different way that makes it flexible in terms of difficulty and player count.

Printable Escape Kits are escape room experiences meant to be printed (and thus played physically, offline).
Escape Rooms are a combination of puzzles and mysteries that you try to solve as a group, so you can “escape” before time runs out. Because every puzzle presents a revelation or new information, they are great educational tools.
