Description

This is a digital quiz (with 4 short rounds of increasing difficulty), because it needs to play sound for every question!

It teaches children the first step in learning language: identifying that spoken sounds they hear have (consistent) meaning. For this first step, merely recognizing that sounds are similar is challenging enough. So that’s what these simple quiz questions do.

We added an Audio Adventure ("Audioventure") as the final question set because it’s such a fun thing to practice and test this skill. But it might be too difficult for some children. (It’s a short spoken story about exploring a magical jungle, interrupted a few times to ask questions about the sounds you just heard or might hear.)

The Teachers resource for this topic practices more or less the same things. In that resource, however, the Guardian and Apprentices have to make the sounds themselves.
