Description

This product contains 70 pentomino puzzles. You get some recognizable image (“silhouette”), such as one of a bird or a house. You have to recreate that image by combining the “pentomino” pieces given to you!

The puzzles start easy (only 4 pieces), but grow to the full set (12 pieces) towards the end.

Each puzzle has its own page, which allows you to use it like a “puzzle mat”: solve it by placing the pentominoes directly on the page, until you’ve filled the entire silhouette. That same page also has a hint and the full solution at the bottom.

But you can solve these puzzles on any surface (in any way you like), by simply picking a silhouette from the overview page to recreate.

These kinds of puzzles also have the nice feature, in practice, of being a good puzzle for adults too ;) Just try to solve some of the harder ones and wait until there’s a crowd around you trying to be helpful …

Can’t get enough of Pentominoes? Or you’d rather play a game with others instead of alone? Then try out Pentomino Games instead!

This product is part of “Tessella’s Toolbox”. “Tessellation” means the act of dividing a larger shape or image into smaller parts, such as creating a mosaic or a jigsaw puzzle. Pentominoes are just one of many ways to do this, as this bundle asks you to combine them in such a way that you recreate the image of an animal or other common object. If you liked this, check out the many other puzzles/challenges in this project. A good recommendation is to play the Tricksy Tangrams

Faction: Puzzlepages

This resource is part of the Puzzlepages Faction.

But that's just one way to teach and explore its topic(s)!

You can always move to a different Faction to find a more effective way to teach the same topic.

Played a quiz? Try a game! Played a game? Try an escape room! And so on.

For example,

Charm: Educational Puzzle

This product is part of the Educational Puzzle charm.

Visit its main page to learn more about what that means. Below is a summary:

Educational Puzzles are logic puzzles meant to build and strengthen specific skills. They are physical puzzles that must be played with pen and paper or by moving physical pieces.

Famous examples of such puzzles are Sudokus or Crosswords, but our resources show you can take it much further.

Spell: My First Shapes

This resource is part of the My First Shapes topic (or "spell").

Just like colors, shapes provide an easy way to categorize the world around us and break it into smaller parts. This helps understand the world better: now you can explicitly ask your parents for the square thing, for example. It also enables teaching crucial skills such as grouping and combining later.

This resource also covers other topics. To keep things simple, the curriculum always considers the first topic listed to be the most important.

The Spell (or "educational topic") of this product is My First Shapes.

Use the buttons to navigate to the next or previous Spell. It selects a product of the same type if possible. Otherwise it brings you to the overview page.

Or visit the Full Curriculum overview.

Try another approach?

The Faction (or "product type") of this product is Puzzlepages.

This approach might work for some Apprentices but not for others! That's why we recommend exploring each topic in a variety of ways.

Maybe a (different) game works better? Or a quiz, story, or escape room? Below are some random suggestions.
