LEVEL 1

Numnogram is a puzzle variant inspired by the famous Nonograms. Those puzzles give you numeric hints at the edges, and if you follow the rules and fill in the squares, you end up with a recognizable image.

As the name suggests, Numnograms does the same … but with no numbers. We found several ways to remove the requirement that you must be able to count, while keeping the very nice feature that every puzzle gives you a picture.

  • The clues at the edges are not numbers, but literal squares. You merely need to literally copy them into the empty spaces below.
  • The first puzzles stop right there, because that’s already a good challenge to understand for very young kids.
  • But, at higher difficulties, the puzzles turn into actual puzzles by asking you to think about exactly where to copy the squares too. Because there can be any amount of empty spaces between them. The only way to know the right place, is by checking both the horizontal and the vertical clue(s).

It also contains a level with multiple colors, which leads to prettier pictures and a slightly different puzzle. It only requires a basic set of coloring pencils, though we do also support playing with a single color still.

The final puzzles are challenging on their own, and also prepare the player for actual Nonograms by showing numbers on the clues as well.
