Box of Belonging (Pre-Reader) is a grouping and association puzzle. Each challenge presents a list of recognizable images, such as cat, plane, train, and cow. Then it asks you to sort them into a specific number of groups, like “2 groups of 2”.
You can probably see the answer already. In this puzzle, the cat and the cow belong together (both animals!), as do the plane and train (both vehicles!)
The puzzles start small and simple like that, but grow to more images with harder connections to figure out over time. It’s a pre-reader, image-based version of the NYT Connections puzzle, if you’re familiar with that.
The puzzle can be played physically, by cutting out the image squares of each puzzle and placing them on the solution squares. It can also be played by simply drawing the images into the squares, or even by just pointing at those that you think should be a group.
