Race around the board buying and upgrading your own holiday resorts. But watch out: landing on someone else’s hotel forces you to pay them to stay the night! Who will become the tourism tycoon? And who will go broke?
This game is clearly inspired by classics like Hotel and Monopoly. You start with some money and a pawn on a circular board. As you move, you’ll get opportunities to build hotels and upgrade them, earning money when someone else visits. You continue to develop your own chain of hotels and managing your money, until one player goes broke. Whoever played the best (most money and most value in hotels) wins!
It’s a great family game that many will recognize and understand completely. It’s ideal for on a holiday or during summer, as the whole game is whimsically themed around it. Just 1 page of rules ( + 1 page for optional expansions) and 4 pages of material to print and cut ( + 1 page for optional expansions).
We tried to improve on the formula, however, by removing the things we didn’t like and adding things we did like! We made the game simpler and shorter. We made the game less punishing and less random, adding more strategy and choice and “easy money” instead. We added a random board and a large number of unique hotels, so that every play experience is completely different from the last. We lowered all the numbers to ones between 1 and 50, which reduced complicated math, but also helped reduce the amount of material and fiddly bits needed.
Hopefully you enjoy this twist on a classic as much as we do!
