Fruity Finish is a “racing game” for young kids who can’t read or count yet. It explores being able to recognize that two things are the same (or different). That’s all you need for the base game. Once familiar with that, you can add many upgrades to increase the challenge and test counting skills too.
It has a recognizable fruit theme combined with the unique approach that players are fruit bats. We tried our best to design the game such that it looks nice while using as little ink from your printer as possible. We purposely did not make the game about color, so you can print in grayscale too and miss nothing.
A “racing game” simply means that you start somewhere on a board and try to reach the finish (first). In fact, this game is cooperative, which means you play together. It’s not about who finishes first, but about making sure everyone finishes.
Racing games are a great “coathanger” on which one can hang many coats. This mechanic—“reach that finish tile”—is a very intuitive objective for children. More intuitive, at least, than the usual objectives of board games (such as “score the most victory points!”). That’s why, if you’re looking for a great game (not even necessarily educational), that young kids certainly like and understand, this one is a good choice.
The base game is extremely simple and teaches matching, thinking ahead, and cooperation. The upgrades add numbers, special powers, fruit names, and more to create deeper strategy.
Have fun!

| Hoot Owl Hoot! | It’s basically the same core game. But its base game is slightly more complicated (so we wanted to simplify it) and it uses color exclusively (whereas we made it about specific icons instead). |
