This product contains the board game Fortis. The best way to explain it is as a simplified, streamlined version of the Tetris video game.
Every turn you have to place a “polyomino” shape (several squares attached in some way) on the board. As expected, it can’t overlap, or exceed the map, or go through holes that are too tight. But you may rotate and mirror the shape however you want, which gives a lot of options.
If, after placing, you complete an entire row … flip all its squares the other way and see what actions you trigger! Some actions are great (such as scoring or special powers), some are terrible (such as losing points or bombs), so make sure you also spend time peeking below the shapes others have placed …
We were honestly surprised how well the core idea of Tetris translated to a board game. With the secret actions, Fortis became a very fun and tense game in its own right, where you’re not only rewarded for good spatial awareness, but also memorization and tactical actions.
