LEVEL 1

Flipfire Bakery is a fast and simple card game about comparing all sorts of things. It’s ideal for pre-counters and pre-readers, who are still learning how to compare size and color, but also plays nicely with older kids if you enable the expansions.

The default mode is competitive (you win by scoring most cards), but it includes a cooperative mode too (you play together, taking turns at the same time).

The game contains 5 sets: size, color, more/less on fire, numbers, letters. You decide which sets you want to play with, adapting the game to what you want to practice or what your players can handle.

Each set adds a few cards and a double-sided coin. Why? Because this game has one simple rule:

You’re allowed to play a card only if it matches what the coin says!

For example, maybe the coin shows “BIGGER” right now. Then you’re only allowed to play cards that show a BIGGER icon than the current top card.

Specific situations allow you to flip that coin to “SMALLER”, though. Use your flips to help yourself get rid of cards … or to make your opponents unable to play!

With multiple sets enabled, you have multiple coins (one per “attribute”). This provides a solid challenge in learning to compare different attributes of the same thing, and finding the one that allows you to play the most cards. Once familiar with the base game, you can make the jump to the numbers set and introduce the Apprentices to counting (up to 12).

Have fun and keep learning!

LinkExplanation
Hi-Lo FlipThis game uses similar core gameplay, but only a single coin (higher/lower) and cards from 1 to 99. It inspired us to simplify gameplay and make it available to pre-counters (kids who can’t count yet), as well as introduce different types of coins to flip for more varied gameplay.
